Fire Up the Grill: It’s time for a Sizzling BBQ Season!

It’s almost that time of year to dust off the BBQ, impulsively buy a paddling pool and invite all your friends and family over for obligatory drinks and food in the sunshine! And since Covid-19, more brits than ever are BBQing! In 2020, the number of barbecues held in UK households rose by 55 million, the equivalent to 40%, totalling 190 million barbecues overall! 

Because of this, we thought we’d share some of our top tips for getting the most out of the BBQ season, from BBQ essentials to recipes to impress every guest.

A recipe to impress!Thinking of hosting the annual summer gathering this year and cleaning up the garden for it? Add to your evening by cooking up a recipe to impress! Whether you’re cooking on a gas or coal BBQ, take a look in Jamie Oliver’s cookbook and get cheffing! These zingy and fresh barbecue prawns are a great place to start. Accompany them with this watermelon, onion, cucumber, and feta salad and allow your guests to sit back and enjoy!

  • 2 lemons
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 bunch of fresh flat-leaf parsley, (30g)
  • olive oil
  • 320 g large raw shell-on king prawns, from sustainable sources
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • ½-1 fresh red chilli
  • ½ a bunch of fresh mint, (15g)
  • ½ a red onion
  • 1 small watermelon
  • 1 cucumber
  • 100 g feta
  • 8 rashers of higher welfare smoked pancetta or streaky bacon
